Shire of Leonora Town Planning Review

Published on Thursday, 8 March 2018 at 12:00:00 AM

Have your say on the planning strategies that affect your property and business!

The Shire of Leonora is preparing a new Local Planning Strategy and Local Planning Scheme. These planning documents translate the long term vision, goals and objectives to guide and control future land use and development in the Shire.

The Shire’s current planning scheme was first gazetted in 1984. Being over 30 years old, it requires significant review to reflect changes in the planning system put in place by the state government.

The local planning strategy and scheme support Council’s Strategic Community Plan. They will help Council and the community implement key community aspirations of the Strategic Community Plan.

A key objective of the project is to engage with the community and other key stakeholders throughout the project. Engagement and consultation throughout the project will help ensure that the local planning strategy and scheme adequately captures and support community aspirations expressed in the Strategic Community Plan.

Community engagement is commencing soon!

The Shire of Leonora welcome your views and opinions and want to hear from you.

This is only the beginning of the project. To inform the project, the Shire and their consultant team would like to understand key planning and land use issues that the strategy and scheme should address.

The consultant team will be in Leonora to meet with community members and stakeholders on 16-19 March. As activities are scheduled, this website will be updated.

There will also be a survey released soon, so stay in touch!
